VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate

Rossbourne School offers its students pathways to complete the VCE Vocational Major (VM) or Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). Students can complete the VCE VM over 2 or 3 years and the VPC is completed over 2 years.

VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM)

The VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) is an applied learning program designed to provide students with practical skills and hands-on experience in various industries. This program is part of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and key features include:

Flexible Learning

The VCE VM allows students to choose from a range of subjects that align with their interests and career goals. This includes vocational education and training (VET) courses, which provide industry-specific skills.

Rossbourne offers 3 VET courses on-site (Active Volunteering, Sports and Recreation, and Business Management), however, students can also choose other VET courses delivered by external providers.

Assessment

Unlike traditional VCE subjects, VCE VM subjects are assessed through classroom activities and projects rather than exams.

Pathways

The VCE VM prepares students for various pathways, including apprenticeships, traineeships, further education, and direct entry into the workforce.

Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)

Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive and flexible option for students who may not be ready or able to complete the VCE VM. It is designed to cater to the diverse needs of students and key aspects of the VPC include:

Core Subjects

Students need to complete units in Literacy, Numeracy, Work-Related Skills, and Personal Development Skills.

Additional units can be chosen based on the student's interests and career aspirations.

Both the VCE VM and VPC offer valuable pathways for neurodiverse students, providing them with the flexibility, support, and practical skills needed to thrive in their educational and career journeys.
