Devices

Laptops

Like all students, Rossbourne students require and are entitled to technology-enhanced learning to prepare them for an ever-evolving world. Rich technological experiences and digital integration will allow students to build their skills and digital literacy to prepare them for lifelong learning and the growing opportunities afforded to students with good digital literacy skills.

Each student will be provided with a carefully selected device that will be supported by our technology partner, Novo3.  This device will remain with the student for 3 years and be returned to the school at the end of this time or when the student leaves the school.

Parents/Guardians will be required to sign a Laptop Parent Agreement Form and both Parents/Guardians and the student will be required to sign the school’s ‘Student ICT Responsible Use Policy Acknowledgement’ before devices will be allocated to students.

Annual Charge / Levy

To cover the costs of the program (HP Pro X360 device and accessories, service model, extended warranty, accidental damage and software), an annual charge of $600 will be charged each year. After three years, students return the device to the school and will be provided with a new laptop under a new agreement.

This charge will be applied to your school account in three equal payments.

Service and support

A benefit of the school purchase approach is a simplified and streamlined service model. If an issue arises with you’re the student’s device, they take it to the Business Manager where an evaluation of the problem is undertaken. If the problem cannot be corrected, a “loan” device will be provided, and the student will be assisted in synchronizing their data from their old device to the replacement device.

Privacy

The laptop device is provided to students as a learning tool to enable them to participate fully in the curriculum at Rossbourne. The school reserves the right to access and view the contents of the laptop computer at any time.

Mobile Phone Policy

Mobile phones must be switched off or set to silent mode during school hours, and cannot be used during class time, assemblies, or any other school-related activities unless explicitly permitted by a teacher for educational purposes. Students must keep their mobile phones in a designated storage box during school hours in their homeroom.

In case of emergencies, students may use their mobile phones with the permission of a teacher or school administrator.

Parents/guardians needing to contact their children during school hours should do so through the school office.

Responsibility for the care of phones lies with the students. The school is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of mobile phones brought onto the school premises.
