Years 9 & 10

Expanding Horizons

Students are encouraged to explore their identity, embrace new challenges, and apply learning beyond the classroom through diverse, interactive experiences. Students are supported to set achievable goals and challenge themselves, academically, physically and socially.  There is a focus on learning skills and strategies to build emotional intelligence to assist with self-regulation and increased independence.

In additional to the core curricular, Year 9 & 10 students undertake: 

  • Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award: Internationally recognised, this program develops resilience, determination, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Work Related Skills:  Covering a broad range of skills required in all aspects of living and working including self-reflection and emotional intelligence.
  • Project-Based Learning: Encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving while refining research skills, use of technology and integrating knowledge from various sources.
  • Cyber Safety Education: Promotes responsible digital citizenship through discussion on cyberbullying, sexting and posting images online.  Topics also over digital identity, fake news, respectful relationships, privacy and time spent online.
  • Driver Education Program conducted with METEC driver training at their facility in Bayswater North
  • Work Experience Program all Year 10 students participate in a one week work experience in Term 4.
  • Swinburne - Children's University program - Passport to Volunteering and Passport to Learning

Year 9 and 10 students engage in a four day inquiry-based learning and team-building experiences during an extended camp program.
